Description

A broad drum shade in grey and white laminated faux silk, hung from a polished chrome suspension and closed underneath by a frosted acrylic diffuser. At 60cm across it gives a wide, soft disc of light rather than a bright point, and the diffuser holds the glare back when you are sitting under it. The lampholder inside takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would fit an LED GLS globe here. Dimming is possible if you pair a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer.

The size suits a table more than a corridor. We would hang it over a dining table, a kitchen island or a broad hallway with height to spare, and it works well in a bedroom where a wide shade softens the light before it reaches you. The flex can be shortened at the outset or run out to roughly 3.3m, so tall rooms and stairwell voids are within reach as easily as standard ceilings. It is one we suggest where a smaller shade would look mean against a large table.

The chrome is polished to a mirror brightness that picks up daylight, and the grey fabric keeps it from feeling cold. Dust the shade now and then with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and give the acrylic diffuser a wipe with a barely damp cloth, keeping solvents and sprays away from both. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathroom steam. It carries a one year warranty. The rest of the range is made up of universal suspensions and ceiling fittings you can dress with your own shade, in antique brass, satin nickel and satin black as well as this chrome.
