Description

The shade is a broad, shallow drum in grey faux silk, lined with a white laminate that throws light forward rather than letting the fabric drink it. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, softening the view up into the fitting and spreading light evenly downwards. The metalwork is satin nickel, a quiet silver with a little warmth in it that settles happily against cool greys and against oak. Five E27 lamps sit above the diffuser, which is enough to light a room outright.

This is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, a bedroom under a modest ceiling, a hallway that people walk through carrying things. At 60cm across it is a large fitting, so it wants a room it can lead rather than a corner it has to share. It will dim if you pair suitable lamps with a compatible dimmer, which is worth arranging in a bedroom or a snug. We would fit warm white LED GLS lamps, the standard pear shape, for a soft and even fill.

The frame is metal, finished in satin nickel and topped by a fabric shade over a laminate lining, with the acrylic panel held in the base. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum, going round the drum rather than up and down; the nickel and the acrylic take a barely damp cloth and a dry one after. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and porches. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.
