Description

A wide, shallow drum sits close to the ceiling here, wrapped in faux silk with a black outer face and a white laminate lining that pushes light back down into the room. Underneath, a frosted acrylic diffuser ringed in polished chrome closes off the base, so the lamps inside read as a single broad, even wash rather than separate points. At 60cm across it is a generous circle, and the drop is shallow enough to leave ceiling height alone.

It is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, a hallway, a bedroom ceiling above the bed, or a sitting room that wants one light source doing the whole job. Five E27 lamps behind the diffuser give real output for a big space, and we would fit LED GLS globes rated up to 20W each. It will dim given compatible lamps and a suitable dimmer, though neither the lamps nor the dimmer come with it.

The frame is finished in polished chrome, matched by the trim around the acrylic diffuser, while the shade body is faux silk over a black and white laminate. For the fabric, a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head on its lowest setting lifts dust without dragging the weave; the chrome and the acrylic prefer a barely damp cloth and a dry buff afterwards, done with the power off and nothing warm to the touch. Keep it to dry, heated rooms rather than a shower room or an open porch. It carries a one year warranty.
