Description

Five E27 lamps sit together beneath a single broad drum, so the light spreads wide rather than pooling in one spot. The shade measures 60cm across and is made up in dual faux silk: taupe outside, with a warm halo gold inner face that lifts the colour of the light as it passes. Underneath, a frosted acrylic diffuser set in a polished chrome ring closes the base and softens the view up into the fitting. The suspension is polished chrome throughout, and the drop can be set short or run down a long way for a stairwell.

It works best over something rather than in the middle of a bare ceiling: a dining table, a kitchen island, a wide console in an entrance hall. With the lamps grouped behind a diffuser it puts out enough light for a whole room, so a main bedroom or a large sitting room suits it too. We would reach for it where a table calls for a broad shape overhead rather than a narrow one, and it will dim given a compatible lamp and dimmer.

The frame and rod are metal under the polished chrome finish, the shade fabric-covered, the diffuser acrylic. Dust the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum, and wipe the diffuser and chrome with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the lamps have cooled; keep sprays and solvents off the silk-effect surface. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range also covers universal frames for shades of your own choosing, in flush, semi-flush and linear pendant forms and in finishes from antique brass to satin black. Lamps are not included.
