Description

A wide drum shade in black faux silk hangs from a single suspension, with polished chrome lamp holders sitting inside it so the light gathers as one broad circle. The shade measures 60cm across and is lined in white laminate, and a frosted acrylic diffuser with a polished chrome rim closes the underside, so the lamps are hidden when you look up at it. Each holder takes an E27 lamp, and the drop can be set long over a table or kept shorter where the ceiling is lower.

It suits a room with some width to fill: over a long dining table, in a stairwell that runs up two storeys, or in a sitting room where a smaller pendant would simply disappear. We would put dimmable LED GLS lamps in it and pair them with a compatible dimmer, which gives you a bright table at supper and something quieter afterwards. This is an earthed fitting for dry rooms indoors, so a hall, a landing or a dining room rather than a bathroom or a covered porch.

The frame, holders and diffuser rim are finished in polished chrome, with the fabric shade and acrylic doing the softening. For cleaning, run a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum over the faux silk from time to time; the chrome and the diffuser prefer a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one, done with the power off and the lamps cold. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range works differently, offering flush and semi-flush fittings and linear pendants in polished chrome, antique brass, satin nickel, white and satin black, all sold ready to take a shade of your own choosing. Lamps are not included.
