Description

Five E27 lampholders gather beneath a single drum shade, which makes for a broad, soft spread of light rather than a row of small points. The shade is black faux silk with a white laminated lining, 45cm across and shallow in proportion, and it sits under a polished chrome suspension and ceiling plate that reads bright against the dark fabric. The drop can be set short for a modest ceiling or run out a long way where there is real height to play with.

We would hang this over a long dining table, in a generous hall, or in a sitting room with the ceiling height to carry it. It is one we reach for when a room needs a clear centre. With the output shared across the lampholders, modest LED GLS bulbs are plenty; each takes up to 20W. It will dim with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, which is worth doing over a table where you want the level down in the evening. It suits anyone who wants a single clear focus above the table rather than several separate drops.

The frame is metal under its polished chrome plating, and the shade is faux silk, laminated so it holds a clean circle. Dust the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum on low, and keep water away from it; the chrome asks for nothing more than a dry cloth.
