Description

A broad drum in grey faux silk sits close to the ceiling here, its inside laminated in white so light is thrown back down rather than swallowed. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, softening the glare from the five E27 lampholders within and giving an even wash across the room below. At 60cm across it is a generous circle, wide enough to read as the main light in a room rather than a quiet addition, and shallow enough in depth to keep the ceiling line clear.

It suits rooms where a pendant would hang into the way: hallways and landings, bedrooms under a lower ceiling, a kitchen-diner where headroom over the table matters. There is enough output here for a large living room as well, and the fitting will dim if suitable lamps are paired with a compatible dimmer, though neither of those comes with it. We would fit LED GLS lamps in a warm white, which sit comfortably inside the shade and keep running costs modest. Lamps are not included.

The shade is faux silk over a grey and white laminate, so the outer face reads as a soft mid grey while the lining keeps the light clean rather than tinted. Dust the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head on low suction, and the acrylic diffuser asks for nothing more than a wipe with a barely damp cloth once the lamps have gone cold. It carries a one year warranty.
