Description

Five E27 lamps sit above a frosted acrylic diffuser, held by a polished chrome trim beneath a 40cm drum shade. That shade is dual faux silk, midnight black on the outside with a green olive lining, and the chrome frame drops it clear of the ceiling so the fitting reads as more than a plain disc. Light passes down through the frosted panel, which takes the hard edge off it.

It is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, a bedroom, a dining room under a lower ceiling. With the full set of lamps working behind a single shade there is real output for a medium sized room, and the black exterior keeps the whole thing quiet against a white ceiling. It will dim, provided you pair dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, and we would fit LED GLS lamps here for the sake of running costs. Dry rooms indoors only, so no shower rooms.

The shade is fabric over a chrome frame and the diffuser is acrylic rather than glass, which keeps the weight modest for a fitting of this width. Care is a matter of dust more than anything: a soft brush or the upholstery tool over the faux silk, a dry cloth on the chrome, and a barely damp cloth on the acrylic if marks appear, with the power off and the lamps cool first. Nothing abrasive near the diffuser. It carries a one year warranty. The rest of the range is built around universal frames that take shades of your choosing, in polished chrome and white for the drop flush and flush versions, single light semi flush fittings in antique brass, satin nickel and satin black, and linear pendants for a run of lights over a table.
