A shallow drum shade in ivory faux silk sits close against the ceiling here, lined in white laminate so light bounces back down rather than soaking away into the fabric. Beneath it, a frosted acrylic diffuser ringed in polished chrome softens the view up into the fitting and spreads the output evenly. The shade measures 40cm across, wide enough to read as generous without crowding a modest ceiling.

Three lamps sit behind that diffuser, so there is plenty of light on offer for a hallway, a landing, a bedroom or a dining room where a hanging pendant would sit awkwardly low. We would fit LED GLS lamps here and pair them with a compatible dimmer, which gives a bright working level in the morning and something far gentler after dark. The frame is metal in a polished chrome finish, bright enough to sit happily with chrome switch plates and mirror frames, and the shade is faux silk over a laminate lining. Dust the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and wipe the chrome and the diffuser with a barely damp cloth once the power is off at the wall and the lamps have gone cold. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathroom humidity. It carries a one year warranty. What size is this ceiling light?

The shade is 400mm in diameter and the fitting hangs 375mm from the ceiling in total, with the body itself accounting for 170mm of that.

What lamps does it take, and can I dim it?

It takes three E27 lamps of up to 20W each, and we would use LED GLS (A60) shapes. It will dim, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a dimmer matched to them.

Is the shade fabric or plastic?

The shade is faux silk in ivory pearl with a white laminate lining. The diffuser below it is acrylic, frosted and finished with a polished chrome ring.

How do I clean the faux silk shade?

Switch off at the wall first. Lift dust away with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery attachment rather than a damp cloth, as fabric marks easily. The chrome and acrylic can take a lightly damp wipe.

Will it work in a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry indoor rooms only, so keep it to bedrooms, hallways, landings and living spaces.
