Three shades sit in a row along a slim antique brass bar, each a dual faux silk drum in nude beige with a moonlight lining that warms the light on its way down. At 30cm across, they read as one considered set rather than a scatter of separate lights, and the brass carries an antique tone rather than a bright polish. Each shade takes an E27 lamp, and the fitting will dim with compatible lamps and a dimmer.

The bar runs to 1.19m, which is the length that makes it useful: over a long dining table, a kitchen island or a run of worktop, the light falls evenly from end to end instead of pooling in the middle. The drop adjusts across a wide span, so it can hang low over a table or sit higher in a hallway or above a landing. We reach for it in narrow rooms where a single large pendant would leave the far ends dim, and it suits anyone after something soft and neutral rather than metal on show.

The shades are fabric finished in faux silk over a drum former, and the metalwork carries the same antique brass tone throughout. Keep the fabric dry: a soft brush or the upholstery attachment on a vacuum lifts dust, and marks on silk-effect cloth are better left alone than sponged. Wipe the brass with a dry cloth only. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, so kitchens and dining rooms yes, bathrooms and covered porches no. Which lamps should I use?

It takes three E27 lamps, up to 20W each. We would choose LED GLS A60 lamps in a warm white, which suit the beige and moonlight fabric well.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with it.

What size are the shades?

Each shade measures 30cm in diameter and 17cm tall, and the three sit along a bar 1190mm long by 300mm wide.

Is the shade the same colour inside and out?

No. The outer fabric is nude beige and the lining is moonlight, which gives the light a softer, slightly warmer cast.
