Description

Three shades sit in a row along a slim bar, each in faux silk with a midnight black outer and a green olive lining that warms the light as it falls. The metalwork is antique brass, softly aged rather than bright, which sits well against the dark fabric. Each shade carries its own E27 lamp of up to 20W, and the suspension can be set short and close to a table or let out to hang properly in a room with height.

We would put this over a dining table or a kitchen island, where the light spreads along the length of the surface instead of pooling in the middle. It works just as well above a long hallway console or a run of worktop. Dimming is possible with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, so if you like a low glow late in the evening, choose the lamps with that in mind. It is a fitting for dry rooms indoors, away from splashes and steam.

Fabric and metal do the work here: faux silk shades, black outside and olive within, on brasswork with an antique finish. Keep the silk fresh with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, and give the brass a dry cloth now and then, with the power off and the lamps cool before you start. Lamps are not included, so we would pick warm white GLS globes to suit the lining. It carries a one year warranty. The same Baymont shade shapes appear in the range as flush ceiling fittings in white and polished chrome, which is where we would go if a pendant would hang too low.
