Description

Three E27 lampholders sit together beneath one wide shade, so it does the work of a small cluster. The shade is faux silk in white, 45cm across, with a white laminate lining that keeps the light clean rather than tinted. Above it, the suspension and ceiling plate are finished in antique brass, warmer and softer than chrome or nickel. The white and brass pairing sits quietly against pale walls. The drop adjusts across a wide span, so it can hang low over a dining table or be kept short where ceilings are modest.

We would hang this where a solitary lamp leaves a large room patchy: over a dining table, in a hallway with height to spare, or centred in a sitting room that wants light spread wide rather than pooled. The broad shade sends brightness down and out, and the white fabric keeps the edges soft. Several lamps under one shade also let you run lower wattages and still light the room evenly. Standard GLS lamps suit it best, and we would fit LED versions; it will dim if you pair dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes in the box. Keep it to dry indoor rooms.

Dust the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum nozzle held just off the surface, and give the brasswork a dry cloth now and then; sprays and damp cloths do faux silk no favours. It carries a one year warranty. Antique brass runs through the wider Baymont range on linear pendants and a small semi flush fitting, so matching fittings across a hall and landing is easy.
