Description

Three lamps sit together under a wide drum shade here, so the light comes out soft and shared rather than split across separate flexes. The shade is dual faux silk, taupe on the outside with a halo gold lining that warms whatever passes through it, and a frosted acrylic diffuser closes the base so the lamps are not stared at from below. Suspension and ceiling plate are polished chrome, bright enough to pick up the gold without competing with it, and the drum measures 40cm across.

We would hang it over a dining table, in a hallway, or centrally in a bedroom where a smaller fitting would look thin. The drop is adjustable over a long span, so it can sit low above a table or high in a stairwell without looking stranded. Each socket takes an E27 lamp, and an LED GLS is what we would reach for, to a ceiling of 20W. Fit suitable lamps and a dimmer and the light can be brought down for the evening.

Indoors and away from damp is where it belongs, which puts living rooms, halls and bedrooms in and bathrooms out. Keep the faux silk fresh with a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum, and give the chrome and the diffuser a wipe with a barely damp cloth once the lamps have gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to flush and semi-flush ceiling fittings and to linear pendants, in antique brass, satin nickel and satin black alongside this polished chrome, so a hallway and a dining room can be kept in step.
