Baymont 3 Light E27 Pendant Light 1.07m Drop Black - Satin Nickel

Three small faux silk shades hang in a line from a slim satin nickel bar, each black on the outside with a white laminate lining that sends light down and back into the room. The shades are 12cm across, so the fitting reads as a light row rather than a heavy block overhead. Each holds an E27 lamp, and the drops can be set short or long, so the shades sit close over a surface or well clear of heads below.

It works over a kitchen island, a long run of worktop or a dining table, where three separate points of light spread more evenly than a single pendant would. We also like it in a hallway above a console table, or in a bedroom where a row of soft light suits better than a central fitting. We would put LED golf ball lamps in it, up to 20W each, and it will dim if the lamps and the dimmer are chosen to suit, the dimmer being a separate purchase. It needs an earthed supply.

The bar and ceiling plate carry a satin nickel finish, soft and low in shine rather than mirror bright, which keeps the black shades as the thing you notice. For cleaning, isolate the circuit and let the lamps go cold, then lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum; keep water and sprays away from the faux silk, and give the nickel no more than a dry cloth. It carries a one year warranty. How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 450mm at its shortest to 3170mm at its longest, so it can be set for a low island pendant or a tall stairwell ceiling.

How much space does the fitting take on the ceiling?

The bar runs 1070mm long and 200mm wide, with the three shades spaced along it.

Which lamps should I buy?

Three E27 lamps, each no more than 20W. LED golf ball lamps are the ones we would choose, as they suit the small 12cm shades without crowding them.

Can I dim it?

Yes, with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor the dimmer is supplied.

What are the shades made of?

Faux silk in black, with a white laminate lining inside each shade.

How do I keep the shades looking right?

Dust them gently with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head. Avoid damp cloths and cleaning sprays, as the fabric marks easily.
