Description

A wide, shallow drum that sits tight against the ceiling, wrapped in ivory pearl faux silk with a white laminate lining behind it. Underneath, a frosted acrylic diffuser closes the fitting off, so the lamps read as an even wash of light rather than bright spots through the fabric. At 50cm across it holds its own over a good-sized room, and because the depth is modest it keeps the ceiling line calm rather than crowding it. The ivory has a faint warmth to it that suits older rooms.

It is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low: a bedroom under a lower ceiling, a landing, a hallway with luggage and coats moving through it, or a sitting room where headroom is tight. Three lamps on E27 lampholders give enough output for a main room light, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer the level can be taken down for the evening. We would fit LED GLS lamps here, up to 20W apiece, which is plenty behind a diffuser of this size.

The fabric is faux silk over a laminate lining, the diffuser frosted acrylic, and the whole thing is light in the hand for its width. Keep the shade fresh with a soft brush or the upholstery attachment on a vacuum, and wipe the diffuser with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the lamps have cooled. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range we stock universal fixtures that take shades of your own choosing, plus linear pendants and compact semi flush fittings in polished chrome, antique brass and satin nickel.
