Description

A small wall light with a satin nickel body and a dual faux silk shade: taupe on the outside, with a halo gold lining that warms the light on its way out. The shade is 12cm across, so it stays close and tidy rather than reaching into the room. A rocker switch sits on the fitting itself, so the light can be turned on and off where you are standing. It takes an E14 candle lamp of up to 20W, and we would fit an LED candle in it.

We reach for it beside a bed, where a switch on the fitting saves a trip across the room, and in pairs either side of a headboard. It suits tight spots as well: a hallway too narrow for a wide shade, the turn of a stair, a small landing, or the wall behind a reading chair. It sits shallow against the wall, so it will not catch shoulders in a corridor. Fit a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer and you can drop the level for the evening.

The metalwork carries a satin nickel finish, a soft brushed sheen that sits quietly alongside pale paint and warmer metals elsewhere in a room. Dust the shade with a soft brush and wipe the nickel with a dry cloth now and then; sprays and polishes are best kept away from the faux silk. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, so not a bathroom or an open porch. It carries a one year warranty. The taupe and gold shade sits well with warm neutrals, oak and linen, and we would keep other metalwork in the room soft rather than bright. Lamps are not included.

It does. There is a rocker switch on the fitting, so you can work it by hand without a separate wall switch.

The shade is 120mm wide, the fitting stands 355mm tall and it projects 180mm from the wall.

How do I keep the shade looking right?

Brush it gently with a soft brush, or use a vacuum on its lowest setting with the upholstery tool. Avoid damp cloths and cleaning sprays on the faux silk.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and intended for dry indoor rooms such as bedrooms, hallways and living spaces.
