Description

Five slim arms sweep out from a matt black centre and rise into one wide fabric drum, so the light reads as a single broad shape rather than a cluster of small ones. The outer face is a raw cocoa faux silk, warm and slightly dry in tone, while the inner face carries a halo gold that bounces a soft glow back down over whatever sits beneath it. Each arm takes a small E14 candle lamp, tucked up inside the shade and out of sight.

The drop can be shortened or lengthened, which makes this an easy choice over a long dining table or in a hall with height to fill. We would hang it low over a table and set it higher in a sitting room, where the width of the shade does the work. It will dim happily so long as the lamps you fit are dimmable ones. At 60cm across it wants a little air around it, so it suits generous rooms better than a small landing, and anyone after warmth rather than glare will get on with it.

The frame is metal in a matt black finish and the shade is a dual layer faux silk stretched over its full depth. Keep a soft brush to hand for the fabric and work along the weave rather than against it; the arms need nothing more than a dry cloth, once the lamps have gone cold and the power is off at the wall. It carries a one year warranty. We would keep the rest of the room plain around it, black wall lights or a single black and gold table lamp, and let the shade and its gold lining carry the colour. Candle lamps are not included.

Five E14 candle lamps, C35 shape. We would fit LED candles, rated to a maximum of 20W each, and they are supplied separately.

Can I dim it?

Yes, with dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer. Both are bought separately, as no dimmer is included.

How far does it hang down?

The drop adjusts from 340mm to 1800mm, with the body itself 220mm deep, so it can sit close to the ceiling or drop well down over a table.

How wide is the shade?

600mm across. Allow clear space either side of that so the drum is not crowded by cupboards or a wall.

How do I clean the fabric shade?

Dust it with a soft brush or a lint roller, moving with the weave. Avoid damp cloths and sprays on faux silk, as they can mark the surface.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry rooms only, so keep it to dining rooms, halls, bedrooms and sitting rooms.
