Description

A broad drum of faux silk sits over five arms, each one holding a small candle lamp so the light spreads across the fabric rather than pooling in a single spot. The shade is 60cm across, wide enough to read as the main event over a table without crowding the room. Its outer face is taupe, a soft warm grey-brown that sits quietly against painted walls, while the inner face is a halo gold that puts a little warmth into the light on its way down. The metalwork is champagne gold, a paler and calmer tone than polished brass.

It suits a dining table best, hung so the shade sits above eye level and the gold lining does its work on the faces below. We also like it in a wide hallway or a sitting room with a bit of ceiling height, where one small pendant would simply look lost. The drop adjusts across a good span, so it can hang low over a table or be shortened where headroom is tighter. Candle lamps with E14 caps are what it takes, and if you want it on a dimmer, fit dimmable ones.
