Description

Three arms spread out beneath a single broad shade, so light comes from across the width of the fitting rather than a single point. The shade measures 50cm across and is finished in silver leaf on the outside, with a white laminate lining. The metalwork is champagne gold, a soft warm tone that sits somewhere between brass and pale bronze. Each arm takes a small E14 candle lamp, and the drop can be set short or long.

We tend to hang this over a dining table, where the width of the shade covers the length of the setting and the light falls where people are eating. It works in a wide hallway or a bedroom too, and it suits anyone after a pendant that reads as one piece rather than a cluster of small fittings. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer, worth doing where a room is used for both eating and sitting afterwards. We would fit warm white LED candle lamps and set the drop so the shade sits clear of eye level when seated.

The frame is metal in a champagne gold plated finish, and the shade material is laminated, so the silver reads as a foil sheen rather than a paint. Cleaning wants a dry duster over the shade and a soft brush around the arms; keep water and sprays off the leaf surface, and turn the power off before you go near a lamp.
