Banyan 3 Light Pendant Light 50cm Antique Gold - Antique Brass

Three curved arms lift from a central stem and gather beneath one broad faux silk shade, so the light reads as a single soft mass rather than a scatter of small bright points. The outer face of the shade is antique gold; a ruby lining sits behind it and warms everything that passes through. At 50cm across, the shade is wide enough to hold its own over a table, and the antique brass metalwork carries that slightly darkened, handled look which keeps gold from turning brash.

It hangs on chain, supplied at 1.5m, so the drop can be taken up under a lower ceiling or left long where there is height to fill. We would put it centrally over a dining table, or in a generous hallway or landing where a slim pendant tends to look mean. It takes candle lamps on E14 and we would choose LED candles, which suit the depth of the shade; fit dimmable ones and a compatible dimmer if you want the ruby glow to drop right down for evenings.

The shade is faux silk stretched over a frame, paired with a metal body and arms in the antique brass finish, and the whole thing is light enough in appearance for its width. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush worked downwards, and give the brass a dry cloth only, avoiding sprays and anything abrasive that would cut the aged surface back. The wiring is earthed and the fitting belongs indoors, in rooms that stay dry and heated. Gold and ruby together are a warmer, slightly theatrical choice than plain linen, and they sit well with dark timber, deep paint colours and older furniture; we tend to suggest it where a room needs colour in the light itself rather than a plain white glow. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.

What size lamps does it take?

Three E14 candle lamps, ideally LED candles in the C35 shape, up to 20W each.

How far down will it hang?

The drop adjusts between 340mm and 1800mm by removing or adding chain links, with a body height of 220mm above the shade.

What colour is the inside of the shade?

Ruby. The outer face is antique gold, so the light picks up a warm red cast as it passes through the lining.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer switch. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

How do I clean the faux silk?

Use a soft brush or a dry lint-free cloth, working in downward strokes with the light switched off. Do not use water or cleaning sprays on the fabric.
