Description

Three curved arms rise from a polished chrome centre and sit beneath one wide drum of faux silk. The outer face is a soft nude beige, while the inner face is a paler moonlight tone that bounces the light back down and takes any harshness out of it. Each arm holds a small candle lamp on an E14 socket, so the shade fills evenly rather than glowing from a single point. It hangs on a chain, and dimmable lamps will let you drop the level right down for the evening.

We would hang this over a dining table, where the shade is broad enough to read as the main event without crowding the room. It works equally well in a sitting room with a taller ceiling, or in a bedroom where you want soft, contained light rather than a bare fitting. At 45cm across it suits a medium to large space; in a smaller room it will feel generous, which is sometimes exactly the point. Chrome keeps it easy to pair with existing metalwork.

The frame is metal with a bright polished chrome finish, and the shade is fabric over a rigid form, so it holds its drum shape rather than sagging. Dust it now and then with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on low, and lift any marks on the chrome with a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one.
