Description

Three slim arms curve from a central satin nickel stem, each carrying a candle lamp beneath one broad shade. That shade is faux silk in raw cocoa with a grecian bronze inner face, so the light picks up a little warmth on its way down, and at 50cm across it reads as a wide, shallow drum. It hangs on a 1.5m chain, and the drop can be set high or low to suit the room.

We reach for a wide shade like this over a dining table, where the light falls onto the surface and the arms stay tucked out of sight above the rim. It works equally well in a sitting room, over a low table, or on a landing with the height to carry it. Dimming is possible where dimmable lamps are fitted, though no dimmer comes with it. It needs an earthed household supply, and dry rooms indoors are its place.

The metalwork wears a satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that sits happily beside warm or cool timber. The shade is dual faux silk, the cocoa outer and bronze inner reading differently by day and when lit. For care, lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery nozzle of a vacuum, give the nickel a dry wipe, and keep water and sprays off the silk. It carries a one year warranty. We keep this one for rooms where a narrow shade would look mean over a big table, and we would put clear candle lamps in it for a little sparkle, opal where a quieter glow suits better. Lamps are not included.

The drop can be set between 340mm and 1800mm using the 1.5m chain supplied, so it can sit close to the ceiling or hang low over a table.
