Banyan 3 Light E14 Pendant Light 45cm Nude Beige - Antique Brass

A trio of gently curved arms rises from an antique brass centre, each one carrying a candle lamp, and the group sits beneath a single wide shade of dual faux silk. The outer face is a soft nude beige, with a paler moonlight tone inside, so the light comes through warm and low in contrast. At 45cm across, the shade is broad enough to hold the middle of a room without crowding it, and the chain gives a good span of adjustment between the shortest and longest drop.

We would hang it centrally over a dining table, where the width of the shade sits comfortably above most seating plans, or in a hall or on a landing with height to spare. It suits calm, warm schemes: painted plaster, oak, old rugs, the sort of room where a bright chrome fitting would feel out of place. It is one we reach for where a plain single drum would look too flat overhead. Small candle lamps are what it is built around, and LED candles keep the running cost sensible; choose dimmable lamps if you want it on a dimmer, as no control is built into the fitting.

The arms and centre are finished in antique brass, a slightly darkened tone that takes the glare off the metal and lets the fabric hold the attention. Being faux silk, the shade wants a gentle approach: a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum lifts dust out of the weave, while the metalwork asks for nothing more than a dry cloth now and then, with the power off and the lamps cold. Wired as an earthed fitting, it belongs in dry indoor rooms. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and we would set it against warm table lamps at low level rather than adding more brass overhead.

What lamps does it take?

It takes three E14 candle lamps, up to 20W each. LED candles in the C35 shape are the ones we would fit, and they are not supplied with the pendant.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and use a separate dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with the fitting.

How far does it hang down?

The drop runs from 340mm at its shortest to 1800mm at its longest, using the 1.5m chain supplied.

How wide is the shade?

450mm in diameter, with a body height of 220mm, so allow a clear span of just under half a metre around the centre point.

What colour is the shade?

Nude beige on the outside with a moonlight tone within, sat under antique brass metalwork.

How should the faux silk be cleaned?

Dry only. Brush lightly or use a low-suction upholstery attachment; avoid damp cloths and sprays, which can mark the fabric.
