Description

A neat square face in sand white, 16cm across and standing barely off the wall, so it reads as a quiet panel of light rather than a lantern. The LED sits inside and is fixed at a warm white 3000K, running at 6W, which keeps the tone soft and slightly yellow rather than clinical. There is no dimming; it works from the switch on its circuit.

We reach for these where a projecting lantern would be in the way: beside a front door, along a narrow side passage, up the wall of a set of steps or either side of a garage door. The spread is broad and even, washing the wall above and below the fitting, which makes it useful for marking a route across a patio or driveway without glare at eye level. It suits a house with plain render or brick, and anyone who would rather the light showed than the light fitting.

The housing is sealed against dust and splashing rain, so it holds up on an exposed elevation as well as under a porch roof, and the driver is carried on board. Sand white is a matt, low-key finish that sits well against pale render and painted timber. For upkeep, isolate the light, let it go cold, then wipe the face with a damp cloth and dry it; corners collect cobwebs and grit faster than a curved housing does, so give them a brush now and then. It carries a three year warranty.
