Description

This is a small round disc of light for doorways and walkways, finished in a deep grey anthracite that reads almost black against brick and render. The face measures 16cm across and the body keeps a shallow projection, so it stays tight to the wall rather than jutting out at shoulder height. Light comes from a built-in LED running at 6W, a warm white that is soft rather than sharp, and there is no dimming and no switch on the fitting itself. It carries a three year warranty.

We reach for this where a lantern would feel too fussy: a back door, a side passage, a garden wall beside steps, or a pair placed either side of a porch. It is sealed against dust and splashing rain, so it copes happily with a wall that catches the weather. The warm tone sits well with older brick and timber as well as painted render, and the light spreads from the face rather than gathering into a narrow cone, giving a broad wash that helps with keys, a bin store or the edge of a path. Switching or sensor control is taken from the circuit it runs on.

The anthracite is a low sheen, matt-leaning finish that hides marks and dulls glare from daylight, and the round face gives a clean line that suits modern and older houses alike. For care, brush cobwebs and grit off the face now and then and wipe it with a cloth wrung out in warm water once the light has been off long enough to cool. We stock the round shape in a smaller size too, and in rust brown and sand white, with square versions in the same range if you prefer a straight edge. Since the LED is built into the fitting, there is nothing to change and nothing to buy alongside it.
