Description

A small round disc of light for outside walls, this one measures 11cm across and sits so close to the wall that it reads as part of the brickwork rather than an object hung on it. The LED is built in and rated at 3W, so what you get is a soft warm white glow that grazes the surface it is fixed to rather than a bright wash across the whole garden. The rust brown finish has a weathered, mineral look to it that works well against brick, render and timber cladding.

We reach for these where a lantern would be too much: either side of a front door, spaced along a side passage, or stepped down a garden wall to mark a path after dark. The light is modest by design, so think of it as orientation and atmosphere rather than task lighting, and plan on more than one if you are lighting a longer run. It is rated for outdoor conditions, coping with rain and windblown dust, which makes it as happy on an exposed porch as under a sheltered canopy. Renters with a small balcony and owners of a courtyard garden both tend to like how little visual space it takes up.

The finish is applied over a compact body with a flat diffuser face, and it is not dimmable, so a plain switch or a timer is the sensible way to control it. To keep it looking well, wipe the face and rim with a damp cloth and dry it off, ideally at the end of winter when grime tends to build up, and keep solvents and scouring pads away from the coating. It carries a three year warranty. We also stock the round shape in anthracite and sand white, a larger round version, and a square form in this same rust brown if you prefer straight edges.
