Ava 18 Light G9 Chandelier 1m - Polished Chrome

Eighteen lights sit within tiers of clear cut crystal, hung from a polished chrome frame that measures a full 100cm across. The crystal is graduated so light passes through it from every side, catching the chrome and throwing it back as small bright points. The chrome is bright rather than brushed, so the frame is part of the sparkle. Each holder takes a G9 capsule, which keeps the working parts small and lets the crystal do all the visible work.

This wants a room with height and floor space to answer it: a galleried landing, a double-height hall, a long dining table, a drawing room with a tall ceiling. The drop adjusts, reaching 3.1m at its longest, so it can hang low over a table or fall properly into a stairwell. Many small sources spread the light rather than pooling it in one place. We would fit LED capsules here rather than halogen, and where you want the level under control, choose dimmable lamps to suit your dimmer. It is one we suggest when a single pendant would look lost.

The frame is polished chrome throughout, with clear crystal at every tier. For cleaning, work one section at a time once the lamps have gone cold, wiping each piece with a lint-free cloth; the chrome asks only for a dry buff and never a scouring cream. Kept indoors in a dry room, on ordinary household mains, it should need very little from you beyond the occasional dust. It carries a one year warranty. How wide is it, and how far can it hang?

The crystal body is 1000mm in diameter. The drop is adjustable between 1100mm and 3100mm, so it can be set close under a high ceiling or brought down over a table.

What lamps does it take?

Eighteen G9 lamps, each up to 33W. We would choose LED G9 capsules; they are not supplied with the fitting.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable G9 lamps and a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is included.

What is the crystal like?

It is clear faceted crystal, arranged in graduated tiers around the chrome frame, so the piece reads bright and colourless rather than tinted.

How should I clean the crystal?

Switch off at the wall and let the lamps cool completely. Work around the fitting a section at a time with a dry lint-free cloth, or a cloth barely damp with warm water and a little glass cleaner, drying each piece as you go.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry indoor rooms such as halls, landings and dining rooms.
