Description

The Ascot is a 60cm table lamp built around a sculptural cage of polished gold metal arcs, topped with a 30cm matt black hemispherical dome shade and seated on a circular black base. Four G9 lamp holders sit within the gold cage, casting light upward into the dome and outward through the open frame. The result is part decorative object, part functional lamp.

The form draws on Art Deco geometry, with the elongated oval rings of the cage creating a layered silhouette that reads differently from each angle. It suits side tables, console tables, hallway runners and desk surfaces where the lamp will be seen in the round rather than against a wall. At 60cm tall it has enough presence to anchor a console but stays in scale on a standard 45-50cm-high side table next to a sofa or armchair.

The matt black shade balances the high-shine gold cage and base trim, keeping the lamp from reading as overtly glitzy. Light from the four G9 capsules bounces off the inside of the dome to give a softened downward wash, while the open cage allows warm reflections to play across the gold tubing. The lamp takes four G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white 2700K-3000K LED G9 capsules to suit the gold finish and create an ambient glow.

How is the gold cage cleaned?

Wipe the polished gold tubing and matt black shade with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths, household sprays or polishes, which can mark the plated finish. For fingerprints on the gold, a barely-damp cloth followed by a dry buff is sufficient.
