Description

The shape here is borrowed from a wine glass: a bowl of copper-toned glass drawing in towards the neck, with a frosted funnel seated inside it. The outer glass carries the warm metallic sheen, while the inner funnel softens what passes through, so the light reads as a glow rather than a hot spot when seen from below. At 12cm across it is a small shade, the sort that works in numbers as happily as on its own. We reach for it when a cluster pendant has lost a shade and the rest of the run needs to match.

Because it is a shade and not a light in itself, the lamp is decided by the host fitting it goes on to. That makes it a straightforward swap for a bar pendant, a multi-light ceiling fitting over an island or breakfast bar, or a wall light in a hallway that has always felt a little bare. The diffused output is gentle and ambient, which suits kitchens and dining rooms where people sit under the light for a while. We would choose it where copper is already in play in the room, in taps, handles or pans, and a warm metallic note would tie things together.

It is glass throughout, the copper tone on the outer wall and the frosted funnel held within, and light enough in the hand to be easy to handle. For cleaning, a damp microfibre cloth followed by a dry buff brings the sheen back; steer clear of scouring creams and spray polish, which will dull the finish over time.
