Description

The Amberhurst large semi flush brings 450mm of Tiffany-style leaded glass to within 315mm of the ceiling, giving a room the character of coloured glass without the drop of a pendant. Three E27 lampholders are set inside the shade, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W, which lights the glass evenly from within. At 2.3kg it is among the lighter fittings of its size in the range, and bulbs are not included so you can choose the colour temperature to suit the room.

Semi flush ceiling lights earn their keep in rooms where height is tight: landings, hallways, bedrooms, box rooms and any sitting room with a ceiling below about two and a half metres. This one is wide enough to light a decent sized room on its own while staying well clear of head height. The multicoloured glass is a natural fit in Victorian, Edwardian and cottage interiors, and in a plainer room it works as the single warm, patterned element. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry indoor spaces.

Many small pieces of coloured glass are set into soldered metal seams over a metal frame, so the shade reads quite differently by day and by lamplight. Dust with a dry soft cloth, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately, and keep household sprays and abrasive creams off both the glass and the seams. The fitting is Class 1 and needs an earthed supply at the ceiling, and it dims with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs.
