Description
The Ambar twin tilt is a rectangular recessed downlight with two independently adjustable GU10 lamp holders mounted in a white aluminium bezel. Each lamp head tilts and rotates within its circular aperture, allowing both light sources to be aimed at different points within a room or focused on the same target for higher intensity.
Designed for residential kitchens, dining areas, hallways and commercial spaces where directional accent or task lighting is needed, the twin configuration suits applications like kitchen worktops where one head lights the prep surface and the other provides fill light, or retail displays where each lamp picks out a different product. The 175mm x 92mm rectangular footprint fits between joists in typical UK ceiling construction with a 70mm minimum void depth required above the plasterboard. The 165mm x 80mm cut-out and drop-down lamp holder design allows bulbs to be changed from below without removing the bezel.
The white powder-coated aluminium finish blends into white ceilings while the square-edge bezel design sits flush with the plaster surface, projecting just 3mm below the ceiling plane. The fitting is Class II double-insulated and carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry indoor locations. The tool-free cable termination uses push-fit connectors with loop-in/loop-out functionality, allowing multiple fittings to be daisy-chained during installation without stripping wire or using terminal screwdrivers. GU10 bulbs are sold separately, with dimmer compatibility dependent on the specific bulb chosen.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The fitting takes two GU10 twist-lock bulbs, sold separately. Most users fit LED GU10s between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for accent or task lighting. Maximum load is 10W per lamp holder.
How much tilt and rotation do the heads have?
Each lamp head tilts and rotates within its circular aperture, giving approximately 30-40° of directional adjustment from vertical. This allows both heads to be aimed at different targets or converged on the same point.
What ceiling void depth is needed?
A minimum 70mm void above the ceiling is required to accommodate the drop-down lamp holders and wiring. The recessed depth of the fitting body is 22mm, with the bezel projecting 3mm below the ceiling surface once installed.
Is it suitable for bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the fitting is not protected against moisture ingress. It is suitable for dry indoor locations only, not bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor covered areas.
