Description

The Knightsbridge Ambar is a single-head tilt downlight built around a 92mm square white aluminium bezel with a recessed adjustable GU10 lamp holder. The lamp holder tilts and rotates within the bezel, allowing the light to be aimed at different angles rather than straight down, giving control over where the beam falls in the room.

Designed for residential, commercial and hospitality installation where directional accent or task lighting is needed, the Ambar suits positions above kitchen worktops, retail display areas, artwork, reading corners and dining tables where light needs to be aimed at a specific surface rather than providing general ambient fill. The 82mm cut-out fits standard ceiling void depths from 70mm upwards, and the tool-free cable termination allows loop-in/loop-out wiring on the second fix without screwdrivers.

The white powder-coated aluminium bezel sits 3mm proud of the ceiling surface with a 22mm recessed depth, giving a low-profile finish that works in rooms with standard or lower ceiling heights. The lamp holder accepts any GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), including Knightsbridge's dimmable, non-dimmable and SmartKnight GU10 LED options across different colour temperatures. The IP20 rating restricts the fitting to dry indoor areas — not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor installation.

The square edge design pairs cleanly with contemporary interiors and architectural lighting schemes. The adjustable head drops down slightly from the bezel on installation, making lamp replacement straightforward without needing to remove the entire fitting. Knightsbridge packages the Ambar range in FSC-approved cardboard.

The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb up to 10W. Most installations use a GU10 LED between 4-7W and 3000K for warm white task lighting. Knightsbridge produces dimmable and non-dimmable GU10 options specifically for the Ambar range, available separately at Niori.

Can the lamp head be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The GU10 lamp holder tilts and rotates within the square bezel, allowing the beam to be aimed at different angles. The adjustment remains in position once set, so the light can be redirected without accessing the ceiling void.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 70mm void depth is needed to accommodate the recessed body and wiring. The fitting requires an 82mm square cut-out in the ceiling surface.

Is this suitable for bathroom installation?

No. The IP20 rating restricts the Ambar to dry indoor areas only. For bathroom zones 1 and 2, an IP44-rated or higher downlight is required.
