Description
The Knightsbridge Ambar is a single-head tilt downlight with a square brushed chrome bezel and fully adjustable GU10 lamp holder. The head tilts and rotates within the recessed housing, allowing light to be aimed at specific features, wall art, or task surfaces rather than just straight down. The 92mm square bezel sits 3mm proud of the ceiling surface and requires an 82mm circular cut-out and 70mm minimum void depth above the ceiling.
Designed for residential and commercial installations where directional accent or task lighting is needed, the Ambar suits kitchens, hallways, retail display areas, and hospitality spaces. The tilt mechanism allows the GU10 bulb to be angled without needing multiple fixed downlights, making it useful for highlighting artwork, countertops, or architectural details. The drop-down lamp holder means the bulb can be changed without removing the bezel or disturbing the ceiling finish.
The aluminium construction carries a Class II double-insulated rating and IP20 protection, limiting use to dry indoor locations. The brushed chrome finish provides a cooler metallic tone than brass or gold and pairs with modern, industrial, and transitional interiors. The tool-free cable termination uses loop-in/loop-out connectors that speed up installation when linking multiple downlights on the same circuit. The fitting accepts any GU10 bulb up to 10W (sold separately), with dimming capability dependent on the chosen bulb.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
A minimum 70mm void depth above the ceiling is required to accommodate the recessed housing and wiring. The fitting itself recesses 22mm into the ceiling with the bezel sitting 3mm proud of the surface.
Can the lamp head be angled?
Yes. The GU10 lamp holder tilts and rotates within the housing, allowing the light to be directed at walls, features, or task surfaces rather than straight down. The tilt range is sufficient for accent lighting and feature highlighting.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb chosen. The fitting itself is compatible with dimmable GU10 bulbs, but non-dimmable GU10s will not dim regardless of the switch or dimmer used. Check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating limits the Ambar to dry indoor locations. For bathroom zones requiring IP44 or IP65 protection, use a dedicated bathroom-rated downlight from the Knightsbridge range.
