Description

The Ambar is a 3-light recessed downlight with independently adjustable heads housed in a rectangular white aluminium plate measuring 260mm x 92mm. Each head accepts a GU10 bulb (sold separately) and tilts within its aperture to direct light across a table surface, onto a wall, or down for general room illumination. The recessed depth is 22mm with a 70mm minimum void required above the ceiling.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas, home offices and commercial hospitality spaces, the three adjustable heads allow light to be aimed where it's needed rather than fixed in one position. A corner dining table might use one head to light the table centre and two to wash adjacent walls; a kitchen island installation could direct all three heads downward for task lighting over a worktop. The white finish integrates with white ceilings and the square-edge plate sits flush once fitted.

The aluminium construction gives the fitting a lightweight 300-350g profile that fits standard UK ceiling voids. Knightsbridge's tool-free cable termination system speeds up installation — the wiring loop-in/loop-out functionality allows multiple fittings to be daisy-chained without junction boxes. Each GU10 lampholder drops down from the head for bulb changes without removing the faceplate, and the Class II rating means no earth connection is required during fitting.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes three GU10 bulbs up to 10W each, sold separately. Knightsbridge offers dimmable and non-dimmable GU10 LED options in a range of colour temperatures. Choose a dimmable GU10 LED if pairing with a dimmer switch.

How much ceiling void is needed?

A minimum 70mm void above the ceiling is required to accommodate the fitting depth and GU10 bulb. The recessed depth of the fitting itself is 22mm, with the bulbs adding the remaining depth.

Can each head be aimed independently?

Yes. All three heads tilt within their apertures independently of each other, allowing light to be directed across different zones — for example, one head down, two aimed outward to wash walls.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means it's designed for dry indoor locations only. It's not rated for use in bathroom zones where moisture or direct water contact is present.
