Description

The Allier is a 330mm flush ceiling light built around a cage of curved weathered oak wood slats with an antique forged iron canopy and base plate. Two E27 bulbs sit inside the cage behind an opal glass diffuser, casting warm ambient light through the wood framework and the frosted glass. The cage design draws from French wine barrel construction, with the kiln-dried oak shaped into a spherical form that sits 178mm below the ceiling once fitted.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.5m where a pendant would hang too low, the Allier works in entrance halls, bedrooms, home offices and smaller living rooms needing ambient overhead light without ceiling projection. The flush mount sits directly against the ceiling rose, so there is no drop or adjustment needed during installation. The opal glass softens the direct bulb glare while the oak slats create shadow patterns on the ceiling and walls when lit.

The weathered oak finish shows visible grain and tonal variation across the wood, with a grey-toned patina that pairs well with both warm farmhouse interiors and cooler industrial schemes. The antique forged iron canopy and centre hub anchor the cage structurally and provide contrast against the lighter wood tone. Each of the two E27 sockets accepts bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or decorative filament bulbs depending on the desired light temperature and style.

Does the opal glass diffuse all the light or can you still see the bulbs?

The opal glass diffuses most direct bulb glare, but the shape and filament of decorative bulbs remain faintly visible through the frosted glass when lit. If you prefer no visible bulb detail, choose a standard LED bulb rather than a clear filament style.
