Description

Round, low and close to the ceiling, this fitting sets clear crystal spheres across an antique brass frame so the light is broken up and thrown about the room rather than falling in one flat wash. It measures 46cm across, which gives the spheres space to catch each other and the brass behind them. Five E14 candle lamps sit inside the ring. We would fit LED candles here, the slim candle shape, and where you want the level to come down, dimmable lamps and a matching dimmer will do it.

It suits the rooms where a hanging light is a nuisance. Hallways and landings take it well, as do bedrooms and small dining rooms with a ceiling that sits lower than you would like, and anywhere a door swings close to the middle of the room. Because the crystal does the work, it reads as decorative even switched off, so it holds up in a room you walk through more than you sit in. This is a domestic indoor fitting, for dry rooms on a normal household supply, and not for a bathroom zone or a porch.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, warm and slightly softened rather than bright, and the crystal spheres are clear. Dust settles on glass faster than it shows on metal, so a soft cloth over the spheres now and then keeps the sparkle; turn the power off and let everything go cold first, and keep polishes and sprays away from the brass. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included. The same sphere crystal is offered in polished chrome and in smaller round sizes, and we stock a switched wall light on the same theme if you want the pair.
