The ESP CAB-80 is an 80-metre CCTV camera cable combining a coaxial video line with a separate DC power feed in a single jacketed run. BNC connectors at both ends carry the analogue video signal from the camera to the DVR or monitor, while paired power leads terminate in a DC barrel connector at the camera end and bare wire at the power supply end.

Designed for single-camera runs in domestic and small commercial CCTV installations, the 80m length allows cameras to be positioned at perimeter boundaries, gate pillars, outbuildings and other remote locations without needing intermediate junction boxes or separate power and video cable runs. The combined construction reduces installation time and cable clutter compared to running separate coax and power cables.

The cable ships as a coil weighing 4.1kg net, packaged in a 300mm square box. The BNC connectors are metal-bodied with screw-lock collars to prevent accidental disconnection, and the coax section is suitable for standard analogue CCTV signals including composite video and AHD formats up to 1080p resolution. The power section carries low-voltage DC from a separate camera power supply, typically 12V DC at up to 2A depending on camera draw.

This is a passive cable with no active components — it requires a compatible camera power supply and DVR/monitor at the receiving end. What type of cameras is this cable compatible with?

The cable works with analogue CCTV cameras using composite video, AHD, TVI or CVI formats up to 1080p resolution. It is not suitable for IP network cameras, which require Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cable instead. The DC power section supports cameras drawing up to approximately 2A at 12V DC, depending on the power supply used.

Can the cable be used outdoors?

The cable jacket provides basic protection against moisture and UV exposure, but for permanent outdoor installation it should be run through conduit or trunking to protect against physical damage and prolonged weather exposure. The BNC connectors at both ends should be kept dry or protected with junction boxes where exposed to rain.

Is 80m the maximum effective length for CCTV?

In most analogue CCTV systems, 80m is close to the practical limit for maintaining good video signal quality without amplification or signal boosters. Beyond this length, video clarity may degrade due to signal loss in the coax. For longer runs, consider using video baluns over Cat5e cable or switching to IP cameras.
