4 Gang Twin 2 Way Light Switch - Pink

Pink is not a colour you see often on a switch plate, and that is rather the point. Four rockers sit in a row across a twin plate with no visible screws, so the front face reads as a single clean panel of colour, each rocker ringed in bright chrome. Every gang is wired for two way working, which means it can run on its own or pair with a matching switch elsewhere to control the same lights from either position.

It suits a room with several lighting circuits to juggle: ceiling lights, wall lights, under-cupboard strip and a lamp circuit all landing at a single plate rather than spread across separate ones. We would reach for it at the foot of a staircase, in a kitchen with a busy hallway beyond it, or in a child's bedroom or dressing room where a bit of colour on the wall is welcome. The chrome inserts keep it from looking like a novelty, and it sits comfortably against white or pale walls as well as deeper shades.

The plate is moulded ABS in a solid pink finish, with chrome detailing on the rocker inserts, and the switch is double insulated. Keep it looking sharp with a dry microfibre cloth, or one barely dampened with water where fingerprints build up around the rockers; solvents, cream cleaners and antibacterial sprays will dull the moulding, so keep them away. It is intended for indoor rooms on household lighting circuits. It carries a ten year warranty. What does 2 way switching mean here?

Each of the four gangs can be wired either as a straightforward on/off switch, or as one half of a pair so that the same light can be controlled from two places, such as the top and bottom of a staircase.

What is the current rating?

Each gang is rated 10AX, which covers normal domestic lighting circuits.

How big is the plate?

It is a twin plate measuring 146mm by 88mm, with a 25mm depth behind the front face.

Will it work with dimmable lamps?

It is a rocker switch, so it turns the circuit on and off rather than dimming. Dimmable lamps will simply switch fully on and fully off with it.

How should I clean the pink finish?

A dry cloth for dust, and a slightly damp one for marks around the rockers. Avoid solvent-based or abrasive cleaners, which take the sheen off moulded ABS.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and intended for dry indoor rooms only, so it should be kept out of bathrooms and other wet areas.
