Description

The Knightsbridge 4-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer controls lighting across four independent zones from a single faceplate, rated at 10-200W for incandescent and halogen loads or 5-150W for dimmable LED per gang. Each gang features a push on/off, rotary dimming knob with front-accessible controls for switching between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes, adjusting minimum brightness trim, and resetting the dimmer without removing the faceplate.

Designed for multi-room control or large open-plan spaces where multiple lighting circuits need independent dimming from one location, the 4-gang layout suits hallways, kitchen-diners with pendant/downlight/under-cabinet zones, and master bedrooms with separate ceiling, wall and bedside circuits. The 2-way configuration allows the same lighting to be controlled from two locations when paired with a matching 2-way switch. The dimmer is preset in trailing-edge mode, which suits most modern LED drivers, and can be switched to leading-edge for older halogen transformers or specific lamp types.

The polished chrome faceplate is made from premium-grade steel with a rounded edge profile that sits proud of the wall by 7.5mm, giving a defined border around each control knob. The chrome finish provides high reflectivity and pairs with modern, contemporary and industrial interiors. Built-in overload and overheat protection shuts the dimmer down if the total load exceeds the rating or if internal temperature rises beyond safe operating limits. An inrush current limiter prevents nuisance tripping when switching on high-capacitance LED loads. The dimmer requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and must be used only with dimmable lamps of the same brand and wattage within each zone — mixing lamp brands or wattages on a single gang can cause flicker, buzzing or premature dimmer failure.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode cuts the power at the end of each AC cycle and suits most modern dimmable LED drivers. Leading-edge cuts power at the start of the cycle and suits older halogen transformers and some resistive loads. The dimmer is preset in trailing-edge mode and can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if needed for lamp compatibility.

Can I mix different LED bulbs on one gang?

No. Each gang must use dimmable lamps of the same brand, model and wattage. Mixing brands or wattages causes inconsistent dimming, flicker, buzzing or premature dimmer failure. If you need to control mixed lamp types, use separate gangs.

What does 2-way mean?

2-way means the dimmer can be paired with a matching 2-way switch at a second location to control the same lighting from two points. Common in hallways, staircases and bedrooms where you need control at both ends of the room.

How do I adjust the minimum brightness?

Each control knob has a recessed trim adjustment accessible from the front of the plate. This sets the lowest dimming level before the lamp switches off, allowing you to calibrate for different lamp types without removing the faceplate.
