Description
The Knightsbridge CS2194BC is a 4-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handling 10-200W incandescent loads or 5-150W LED loads per gang, behind a brushed chrome square edge faceplate. Each gang operates independently via a push on/off and rotary dimming action, allowing four separate lighting zones to be controlled from a single plate. The dimmer can switch between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes from the front of the plate, providing compatibility with a wide range of dimmable lamps without needing to replace the dimmer unit.
Designed for residential installation in living rooms, home theatres, dining rooms and bedrooms where multiple lighting circuits need individual dimming control, the 4-gang configuration suits rooms with a combination of ceiling lights, wall lights, floor lamps and table lamps wired to separate circuits. The 2-way switching allows the same lighting zone to be controlled from a second dimmer or switch elsewhere in the room. The plate fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and projects 10.5mm from the wall once installed.
The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter that prevents voltage spikes when the circuit is first energised. All mode switching, trimming and resetting is done via the control knobs on the front of the plate, so adjustments can be made after installation without removing the faceplate or accessing rear terminals. The brushed chrome finish provides a cool metallic accent with a directional grain that reduces fingerprints and pairs well with contemporary and industrial interiors.
Each gang must be loaded with identical dimmable lamps of the same wattage and brand within the same fitting — mixing lamp types or wattages on a single gang will cause flicker or failure. The dimmer is preset to trailing-edge mode on installation, which suits most modern dimmable LED and CFL lamps. Leading-edge mode is available where older incandescent, halogen or certain magnetic transformer loads are present.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge mode?
Trailing-edge mode suits most modern dimmable LED and CFL lamps by cutting the trailing edge of the AC waveform. Leading-edge mode cuts the leading edge and suits older incandescent, halogen and certain magnetic transformer loads. The dimmer is preset to trailing-edge on installation and can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob if needed.
Can I mix different lamp types on the same gang?
No. Each gang must use identical dimmable lamps of the same wattage and brand. Mixing lamp types, wattages or brands on a single gang will cause flicker, buzzing or premature lamp failure.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The plate projects 10.5mm from the wall once installed, giving a total depth of approximately 35.5mm from the back of the box to the front of the faceplate.
Can this be used in a 2-way switching setup?
Yes. The dimmer supports 2-way switching, allowing the same lighting zone to be controlled from a second dimmer or switch elsewhere in the room. Standard 2-way wiring is required.
