Description

The Knightsbridge 360° PIR ceiling sensor provides motion detection across an 8m radius from a white polycarbonate housing that can be either surface-mounted or recessed into the ceiling. The sensor ships with both a surface-mount back box and recess-mount ceiling springs, allowing installation in existing ceilings with a 73mm cut-out or direct surface mounting where cutting into the ceiling is not practical.

Designed for residential hallways, landing areas, utility rooms, garages and commercial spaces requiring automatic lighting control, the sensor switches connected lighting on when motion is detected and off after a user-set delay. The adjustable lux threshold prevents the sensor triggering during daylight, and the timer can be set from 10 seconds to 7 minutes depending on the space. The 2000W incandescent or 1000W LED switching capacity handles multiple fittings on a single sensor.

When recess-mounted, the sensor sits 27.9mm into the ceiling with a 93mm visible diameter flush to the surface. When surface-mounted using the included back box, the total projection from the ceiling is 36mm. The white polycarbonate construction is IP20 rated for dry indoor environments and the Class II electrical rating means no earth connection is required during installation. The 360° detection field ensures full coverage of the room from a single central ceiling position.

Frequently Asked

Can this be installed in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating is for dry indoor environments only. Bathrooms require IP44 or IP65 rated sensors depending on zone placement. This sensor is suitable for hallways, landings, utility rooms and garages where moisture is not a factor.

What is the detection range and coverage angle?

The sensor provides 360° coverage from the ceiling position with an 8m radius detection range. This means it covers a full circular area beneath the sensor, making it suitable for central ceiling mounting in rooms up to 16m diameter.

How do I adjust the lux and timer settings?

Both settings are adjusted using controls on the sensor body. The lux dial sets the ambient light threshold at which the sensor will activate — set higher for daytime operation or lower to restrict triggering to evening and night. The timer dial sets how long the light stays on after the last motion is detected, from 10 seconds to 7 minutes.

What's the difference between surface and recess mounting?

Recess mounting requires a 73mm cut-out in the ceiling and the sensor sits nearly flush with the ceiling surface (27.9mm recessed depth). Surface mounting uses the included back box and sits 36mm proud of the ceiling, requiring no cutting. Both methods use the same sensor unit and provide identical detection performance.
