Description

The Knightsbridge 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handles loads from 10-200W for incandescent and halogen lamps, or 5-150W for dimmable LED lamps, across three independent circuits. Each gang switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes via a rotary control knob on the front of the plate, providing compatibility across different lamp technologies without needing to rewire or replace the dimmer when changing bulbs.

Designed for residential and hospitality installations where multiple lighting circuits need independent dimming control, the unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless matt white steel faceplate that clips onto a separate sub-frame. The push on/off and rotary dimming action on each gang allows precise light level control, with the dimmer preset in trailing-edge mode out of the box. The front-access control knob also allows trimming, mode switching and resetting without removing the faceplate, making it straightforward to recalibrate if lamps are changed.

The matt white finish provides a clean, neutral appearance that works across contemporary and minimalist interiors. The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter (ICL) to handle the initial surge when switching LED lamps on. The screwless design means no visible fixings on the wall once installed. Note that all lamps on the same circuit must be the same brand, type and wattage — mixing different LED brands or wattages on one dimmer gang causes flicker and premature dimmer failure.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes?

Trailing-edge mode suits most dimmable LED and CFL lamps and is the preset mode on this dimmer. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent, halogen and some transformer-fed low-voltage lamps. The dimmer switches between modes via the front control knob, allowing it to work with different lamp technologies without rewiring.

Can I mix different LED bulbs on the same gang?

No. All lamps controlled by the same dimmer gang must be identical in brand, type and wattage. Mixing different LED brands or wattages causes flicker, buzzing and can damage the dimmer or reduce lamp life. If you need to control mixed lamp types, use separate dimmer gangs or separate dimmer units.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted, with a further 21.3mm recessed depth behind the wall surface.

How do I reset or adjust the dimmer?

Each gang has a control knob on the front of the plate that allows trimming, mode switching and resetting without removing the faceplate. Turn the knob to adjust the minimum and maximum brightness levels, or to switch between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes.
