Description
The Knightsbridge SF2193PC is a 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer handling 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads and 5-150W LED loads per gang, behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with matching dimmer knobs. Each gang switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes via the control knob itself, providing compatibility with both modern dimmable LED lamps and older resistive loads without needing to access back-box terminals.
Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where multiple lighting circuits need individual dimming control, the 3-gang layout consolidates three separate dimmer switches into a single 147.5mm-wide faceplate. The 2-way wiring configuration allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate wall positions, supporting hallway or stairwell installations. The rotary knobs provide push on/off action and continuous dimming when rotated, with a soft-start ramp preventing lamp filament shock on switch-on.
The dimmer arrives pre-set in trailing-edge mode, which suits most dimmable LED lamps and electronic transformers. If the connected lamps flicker or fail to dim smoothly, the mode can be switched to leading-edge via the front control knob without removing the faceplate or re-wiring. The unit includes overload and overheat protection plus an inrush current limiter to handle the initial power draw when cold filament lamps are switched on. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame, giving a clean finish with no visible fixings once installed.
The polished chrome finish provides a high-gloss reflective surface that pairs with contemporary, modern and classical interiors. The premium-grade steel construction and 25mm minimum back box depth requirement are consistent across Knightsbridge's screwless range, allowing this dimmer to be mixed with matching sockets, switches and faceplates in the same polished chrome finish.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming modes?
Trailing-edge mode suits most dimmable LED lamps and electronic transformers by cutting the trailing edge of the AC waveform. Leading-edge mode suits older incandescent, halogen and magnetic transformer loads by cutting the leading edge. This dimmer switches between both modes via the front control knob, so you can adjust it without re-wiring if lamps flicker or fail to dim smoothly.
Can I mix different lamp brands or wattages on the same gang?
No. All lamps controlled by a single gang must be the same brand, model and wattage. Mixing different lamp types or wattages on the same dimmer circuit causes uneven dimming, flickering or premature lamp failure because each lamp has a different electrical characteristic.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum mounting box depth is required. The dimmer module sits within the back box with a recessed depth of 21.3mm, and the screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The polished chrome cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the dimmer and re-clipped without disconnecting wiring or removing the dimmer module.
