Description
The Knightsbridge CL2193PC is a 3-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer supporting 10-200W resistive loads or 5-150W LED loads per gang, housed in a polished chrome rounded-edge faceplate. Each of the three rotary control knobs handles dimming for a separate lighting circuit, making this suitable for rooms with multiple lighting zones such as kitchens with separate task, ambient and accent lighting, or open-plan living spaces with distinct functional areas.
The dimmer switches between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes via the front control knobs, removing the need to open the faceplate or re-wire when changing between lamp types. Trailing-edge mode (factory preset) suits most modern LED and dimmable compact fluorescent lamps, while leading-edge mode accommodates older resistive loads and certain transformer-fed halogen systems. Trim adjustment and mode reset are both accessible from the front plate, allowing recalibration if lamps are swapped or fittings changed without removing the dimmer from the wall.
The polished chrome finish provides a high-reflectivity metallic surface with a mirror-like sheen, pairing well with modern kitchens, bathrooms and contemporary interiors using chrome taps, handles and appliances. The rounded edge softens the profile compared to flat-edge plates, reducing sharp corners and giving a slightly softer visual line. The premium-grade steel construction at 7.5mm projection keeps the dimmer relatively low-profile on the wall. The dimmer includes overload and overheat protection, plus an inrush current limiter to prevent surges when switching on high-capacitance LED loads.
Each gang operates independently as a 2-way circuit, allowing control from two switch positions (e.g. top and bottom of stairs, or either end of a hallway). The screw terminals accept standard UK wiring and the dimmer fits a 25mm minimum back box depth. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations — not suitable for bathrooms unless installed outside splash zones. All three gangs must be loaded with the same lamp brand, type and wattage to avoid flicker or compatibility issues, as mixing lamp types on a shared dimmer circuit can create instability.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?
Trailing-edge dimming (factory preset) suits most modern LED and dimmable CFL lamps. Leading-edge dimming suits older resistive loads like incandescent bulbs and some transformer-fed halogen systems. The dimmer switches between modes via the front control knobs without needing to open the faceplate or re-wire.
Can I use different lamp types across the three gangs?
No. All three gangs must use the same brand, type and wattage of lamp to avoid flicker or compatibility issues. Mixing lamp types on a shared dimmer circuit creates electrical instability and may damage the dimmer or lamps.
What does 2-way operation mean?
Each gang can be controlled from two switch positions (e.g. top and bottom of stairs, or either end of a hallway). This requires additional wiring to a second switch location and is configured during installation.
Is this suitable for bathrooms?
The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. In bathrooms, the dimmer must be installed outside direct splash zones (typically Zone 3 or beyond, at least 600mm from the edge of a bath or shower).
