Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch provides isolated control for fixed appliances rated up to 4,600W, with a red neon indicator that illuminates when the switch is in the on position. The matt black screwless faceplate sits flush to the wall surface with no visible fixings, clipping onto a separate metal sub-frame that mounts to the back box.

Designed for water heaters, immersion heaters, electric showers and other fixed high-draw appliances, the 20A rating handles loads beyond the 13A limit of standard switched sockets. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is off, providing full disconnection for maintenance or servicing. The neon indicator sits above the rocker and confirms operational status without needing to check the appliance itself.

The matt black steel faceplate measures 87.5mm square with a 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted to a 25mm minimum back box depth. The low-sheen finish resists fingerprints and pairs cleanly with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. The switch carries IP20 rating for dry indoor locations and is certified to EN 60669-1 for residential and commercial installation. A built-in gasket provides a tight seal between the faceplate and wall, improving the finished appearance and preventing dust ingress behind the plate.

The 20A rating handles fixed appliances up to 4,600W on 230V mains, including water heaters, immersion heaters, electric showers and large extraction systems. It is not suitable for general socket outlets — use a 13A switched socket for plug-in appliances.

The red neon indicator illuminates when the switch is in the on position, confirming that power is being supplied to the connected appliance. This allows status to be checked without accessing the appliance itself.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless faceplate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.

Can the screwless plate be removed for decorating?

Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that mounts to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting or wallpapering around the switch and re-clipped without disturbing the wiring.
