Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch combines a rocker switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind a brushed chrome flat plate. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing safer isolation for high-draw fixed appliances like water heaters, immersion heaters and built-in ovens rated up to 4,600W at 230V.

Designed for installation in utility rooms, kitchens and plant rooms where fixed appliances need dedicated switching, the flat plate sits just 2.5mm proud of the wall once fitted to a standard 25mm back box. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is on, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live without needing to check the appliance itself. The flex outlet on the lower left accepts cable entry for directly-wired appliances, eliminating the need for a separate flex outlet plate.

The brushed chrome finish has a directional grain that softens reflections and pairs well with contemporary stainless steel appliances and modern kitchens. The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and is certified to EN 60669-1. An integrated gasket behind the faceplate seals against the back box, preventing dust ingress during installation. The switch carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use and includes an earth terminal for Class I installation.

What appliances is this switch rated for?

The 20A rating handles fixed appliances drawing up to 4,600W at 230V. Common applications include water heaters, immersion heaters, built-in ovens and other permanently-wired high-load equipment. It is not suitable for standard 13A plug-in appliances.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon glows red when the switch is in the on position and the circuit is live. This provides visual confirmation that power is reaching the appliance without needing to check the appliance itself, which is useful for equipment located out of sight.

What is the flex outlet used for?

The flex outlet on the lower left of the plate accepts cable entry for directly-wired appliances, allowing the cable to enter through the faceplate rather than needing a separate outlet plate beside the switch.
