Description

Satellite feeds arrive on F-type connectors, and this plate carries two of them behind a copper face with no screw heads on show. The plate is a neat 88mm square, so it takes up no more wall than a light switch, and the copper tone is warm and slightly pink rather than brassy. Each connector is threaded, so a coaxial lead tightens down by hand and stays where you put it. This is a low voltage signal fitting, handling the feed from the dish rather than anything mains.

Two connections in one position suits a receiver with twin tuners, or a pair of boxes sharing the same dish. We reach for it in living rooms and bedrooms where the television sits close to the wall and the cabling needs to vanish behind it, and in studies where a data outlet and a television point end up alongside each other. It is one for dry indoor rooms on ordinary household wiring, and it earns its place just as easily in a full rewire as it does when you are tidying one awkward corner.

The plate is moulded in ABS with the copper finish on the face, which keeps it light and gives you the metal look without the cost. Fingerprints show on any polished surface, so an occasional wipe with a dry microfibre cloth is all it asks; keep sprays and cream cleaners well away from the connectors themselves. It carries a ten year warranty. Copper sits happily against off-white walls, warm timber and deeper paint colours, and where you are running copper plates through a room this brings the television and satellite side of things into line with the switches. Coaxial leads are not included.

Frequently Asked

What sort of connectors does it use?

Two F-type screw connectors, the standard fitting for satellite coaxial cable. The lead threads on and tightens by hand.

Why would I want two connections rather than one?

A receiver with twin tuners needs two separate feeds, one per tuner, so recording one channel while watching another works properly. Two connections also let a second box share the same dish.

How big is the plate?

It measures 88mm by 88mm on the face, with a 25mm depth behind it, so it matches the footprint of a standard single switch position.

What is the plate made from?

Moulded ABS with a copper finish on the visible face. It weighs only 0.070kg, so it is a light thing to handle.

Will it carry a normal aerial signal too?

It is designed for satellite coaxial on F-type connectors. For terrestrial television you want an aerial outlet with the usual coaxial connector instead.

How should I clean it?

A dry soft cloth for dust and marks. Avoid solvents, abrasive creams and anything wet near the connectors.
