Description

A double socket that charges as well as powers. Alongside a pair of switched 13A power points sit a USB-A and a USB-C port, sharing up to 45W between them, so a phone and a laptop can be topped up without one of the sockets being tied up. The plate is finished in textured carbon fibre with chrome, a dark woven-look surface that reads almost as fabric, and the screwless front leaves the face clear of visible fixings.

We reach for this where a single position has to work harder: a bedside, a desk, or the end of a kitchen worktop where the kettle sits next to a propped-up tablet. The USB-C port suits newer phones and small laptops that expect a quicker charge, while the USB-A keeps older leads and accessories in service. A rocker on each gang means you can switch off one appliance and leave the other running. It also earns its place where plates are on show against dark paint or tiling and a white face would stand out.

Polycarbonate and metal make up the body, with the grain of the finish carried across the whole face. It is an earthed fitting for indoor rooms running on an ordinary household supply, so keep it out of shower zones and away from anything that gets splashed. To clean, run a dry cloth over the plate and leave the ports and pin holes alone; no sprays, no damp corners of tea towel. It carries a ten year warranty.
