Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a matt white screwless faceplate. The plate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a 4.3mm projection from the wall once fitted, providing a low-profile finish that sits nearly flush with the mounting surface. An integrated gasket seals the plate to the back box during installation.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where electrical back boxes remain in walls after circuits are reconfigured or discontinued, the blanking plate prevents dust ingress and provides a finished appearance where switches or sockets have been removed. The screwless cover clips onto a separate fixing frame, so there are no visible screws or fixings on the wall once installed. The IP20 rating makes it suitable for indoor dry locations.

The matt white finish provides a neutral surface that blends with white or off-white wall colours and pairs with modern, minimalist and contemporary interiors. The plate includes an earth terminal for bonding metal back boxes to the earthing system where required by wiring regulations. The 147.5mm width and 87.5mm height match standard 2-gang UK back box dimensions, and the plate is certified to IEC 60670-1 standards for electrical accessory enclosures.

What back box does this fit?

The plate fits standard UK 2-gang back boxes measuring 147mm wide. The fixing frame attaches to the back box mounting points, and the screwless cover clips onto the frame.

Is the screwless plate removable?

Yes. The matt white cover clips onto a separate metal fixing frame. The cover can be removed for redecorating or access to the back box and re-clipped without removing the fixing frame.

Does it need to be earthed?

The plate includes an earth terminal for bonding metal back boxes to the earthing system. Current UK wiring regulations require metal back boxes to be earthed, so if the back box is metal, the terminal should be used.

What is the IP20 rating?

IP20 means the plate is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm (such as fingers) but has no protection against moisture. It is suitable for indoor dry locations only, not bathrooms or outdoor use.
