Description
The Knightsbridge 2-gang 2-way intelligent dimmer controls two separate lighting circuits from a single polished chrome faceplate, handling 10-200W incandescent or halogen loads per gang, or 5-150W LED loads per gang. Each gang operates independently via a rotary push-on/push-off control knob, with the dimmer preset to trailing-edge mode for LED compatibility straight from installation.
Designed for two-way switching installations where lighting is controlled from two locations (for example, a bedroom light controlled from both the door and bedside), the dimmer replaces standard two-way switches in homes, hotels and offices. The ultra-flat 2.5mm projection from the wall sits almost flush with the plaster, reducing the chance of catches or knocks in high-traffic areas. The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs with contemporary and modern classical interiors.
The dimmer switches automatically between trailing-edge and leading-edge modes depending on the lamp load detected, and includes manual trim, mode-switching and reset controls accessible via the front control knob without removing the faceplate. Overload and overheat protection cuts the circuit if the load exceeds 200W per gang or if internal temperature rises beyond safe limits. An integrated inrush current limiter prevents voltage spikes when switching on high-draw loads or multiple LED lamps simultaneously.
The premium-grade steel construction uses screw terminals for secure connection to standard UK twin-and-earth wiring, and requires a 25mm minimum back box depth for installation. For consistent dimming performance, Knightsbridge recommends using identical lamp brands and wattages within each controlled circuit rather than mixing different LED models on the same gang.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming?
Trailing-edge dimming suits LED and low-voltage electronic loads by cutting the trailing edge of the AC waveform, reducing electromagnetic interference and providing smoother dimming at lower levels. Leading-edge suits traditional incandescent and halogen lamps. This dimmer auto-detects the load type and switches modes, but is preset to trailing-edge for LED compatibility.
Can I mix different LED bulbs on the same gang?
Knightsbridge recommends against mixing LED brands or wattages on a single gang. Different LED drivers respond differently to dimmer signals, which can cause flickering, buzzing, or uneven dimming across the circuit. Use identical lamps within each controlled zone for consistent performance.
What does two-way switching mean?
Two-way switching allows the same light to be controlled from two separate locations, such as a hallway light controlled from both ends of the corridor, or a bedroom light controlled from the door and bedside. This dimmer replaces one of the two-way switches in such a circuit.
How do I adjust the dimmer settings?
Press and hold the control knob for five seconds to enter setup mode. The dimmer can then be trimmed (to set minimum brightness), mode-switched (trailing/leading edge), or reset to factory defaults. Full instructions are in the downloadable specification sheet.
